How to collect and store medical raw materials

Virtually all parts of the elderberry can be used as medicinal. In order for the raw materials to be of high quality, not losing their healing properties, it is important to collect them in time and properly dry them.

Inflorescence baskets should be collected when they are fully dissolved, but before the moment of shedding. To dry the flowers, you need to cover from the sun, the temperature is desirable to about 30 C. After drying, wipe through a sieve.

Fruit  , their collection for harvesting begins after full maturation - in September. The berries are dried in the air, and then dried, observing temperature condition: 60-65 S.

The roots  This part of the plant is harvested at the end of autumn. Dry thoroughly, then grind to a powder.

Bark  . Its preparation occurs before the start of sap flow. Optimum temperature of drying: 65-70С.

Storage time:

• dried flowers - 2 years;
• dried fruits - 6 months;
• root powder - 5 years;
• crushed bark - 3 years.

Important! Store the dried raw materials in a dry room with the possibility of airing. With dampness, it loses its healing qualities and deteriorates. Storage periods exceed - PROHIBITED!

Black elderberry jam

Even a sweet delicacy made from the fruits of this plant is distinguished by its benefits and excellent taste. There are many variants of sweet desserts, for example:

• honey - made from flowers;
• marshmallow - from the squeeze of fruit;
• jam - from the crushed fresh fruits;
• syrup - from berries;
• kissel - from dried berries;
• jam - from ripe berries, the most common option.

There are several cooking methods for cooking: without water, with water, with the addition of lemon juice, thick cooking, etc. They are all simple, but still, the simplest is with water.

Jam recipe

1. Slowly stir the syrup, according to the calculation: 800 g of sugar - 200 ml of water.
2. Run ripe fruit in boiling syrup, be careful not to burn yourself.
3. Cook over medium heat until ready.

All delicious jam is ready. You can eat as soon as it cools, or you can arrange it in jars, leaving it for the winter. Such boiling during the winter period will support immunity well, and in case of cold it will help reduce the temperature.

Harm and contraindications

Elderberry delights in its diverse useful qualities, but still, do not forget that it refers to conditionally poisonous.

Careless use can seriously undermine health. For the same reason, it is worth remembering the contraindications for use for:

• children under the age of 12;
• pregnant and lactating women;
• people with inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract;
• persons diagnosed with Korn's disease;
• suffering an allergic reaction.

Elder. Cancer treatment with elderberry extract.

Although herbs and other medicinal plants have been studying and applying for decades, the elder only came to the attention zone after arriving in Bulgaria.

At first I noticed that the grandmothers in the markets sell white fragrant flowers, then on their trays there were panicles with berries, then - juice in bottles of dark saturated color, then - dried berries.

This made me pay closer attention to this plant and ask what properties elderberry has, what diseases it helps to heal, and for what it enjoys such love in Bulgaria.

For a start, looked into their directories. And she discovered that they described 2 types of elderberry - elderberry, which uses roots for medicinal purposes, and black elderberry. We are talking about black elderberry.

A bit of background information. Medicinal raw materials  are flowers, fruits, bark and roots.

Black elderberry flowers contain flavone glycoside, rutin, choline, tannins, mineral salts, essential oils, organic acids, as well as substances similar in structure to sex hormones.

Organic acids such as valeric, acetic, citric, tartaric, tannins, glucose and fructose, the amino acid tyrosine, mineral salts, in particular, iodine compounds, retinol, ascorbic acid, have been found in fruits.

In folk medicine, infusions and decoctions of flowers are used for diseases of the respiratory tract - bronchitis, bronchial asthma, pneumonia), with cystitis, pyelonephritis. The young leaves of black elderberry are used to treat diabetes, gout, rheumatism, arthritis. Externally used for bone pain, burns, inflammation of the joints, erysipelas, eye disease.

We see what a wide range of uses of this plant.

And yet, how is the elder used in Bulgaria and what kind of liquid (juice?) Are sold by grandmothers herbalists during the ripening season of elderberry?

It turns out that in Bulgaria there is a method of treating cancer with an elderberry extract.

Preparing this tool so.

Pour a layer of berries about 1 cm thick and the same layer of sugar into a glass container. So continue until the place in the jar runs out or until the berries run out. Put insist 2 - 4 weeks. After that, the resulting extract strain.

How to use? Before eating for 10 minutes drink 150 g of water, thawed or distilled. Immediately after eating, drink 1 tablespoon of the extract. So three times a day for 1.5 months. Take a break for a month and repeat the course again. There are three such courses.

It is possible to carry out both before operation, and after.

This extract of elderberry can be used as a preventive measure, to strengthen the immune system, and to increase the energy level. It’s enough to drink one course of such an extract, that is, for 1.5 months.

However, this year we are already late to prepare the extract, but we have dried berries and elder flowers, and several recipes for their use.

Peptic ulcer and hepatitis.

10 g of dried berries pour a glass of boiling water, boil for 5 minutes. Drink a quarter cup 3 times a day 30 minutes before meals.

Colds.

Elderberry berries brew and drink like tea. You can also use flowers.

Skin problems, baldness.

25 g elder flowers pour a glass of water, bring to a boil, insist, drain. It is used externally for various skin problems (psoriasis, scleroderma, dermatomyasitis, vasculitis, lichen planus, baldness, etc.)

In the spring, at the end of May, I bought fruits on the market and saw the branches with white flowers from my grandmothers ... There was also a cardboard with the inscription “byal bz”. I asked what it was, for what ... My grandmother and Russian had something like my Bulgarian))), but I realized that it was coughing ... and something else.))) Later it turned out that this is the elder! ..)) What is interesting is that in Bulgarian it is called “white elder”, and in Russian it is called “black.”))
