  What are harmful worms. Worms in humans: symptoms, harm, drugs and folk remedies for worms

So, which worms are the most harmful and dangerous to humans?

Depending on the type of body structure, helminths are divided into round, flat worms and flukes. Let us consider in more detail each of the varieties.

Roundworms, or nematodes

At night, adult pinworms go out and lay eggs. For better attachment to the skin surface, worms emit a special secret that causes irritation and itching in anus. A person in a dream tries to eliminate the cause of anxiety, the pinworm eggs are on his hands and under his fingernails, and in the morning he unconsciously spreads them throughout the apartment.

Flatworms, or cestodes

Due to the relatively small size (here it is, the main use of the structure of the body of Lentets), in particular the narrow structure, tapeworms can grow in the body of a person or cattle to giant, exceeding ten meters of size.

The most insidious representatives of the class tapeworms  are:

Unlike other worms that settle mainly in the victim's gastrointestinal tract (in the anus, this is why itching appears), flukes penetrate the body of the intermediate or final host through the bloodstream. Their size is also significantly different from the above listed worms. Flukes rarely grow above one and a half meters, and the size of most of them in a mature state does not exceed several tens of centimeters. The harmful worms feed on blood, which is why the main places of their habitat in the body of a person or cattle are the liver and lungs.

The most insidious representatives of the class of flukes are schistosomes, cat and liver fluke, opistorhi. Schistosomes, for example, live exclusively in the pelvic organs, most often in the bladder. As a result of the activity of the worms wall bladder  gradually deformed, small cracks appear in them (each crack is the result of the "migration" of the helminth from the pelvic cavity into the bladder and vice versa). As new cracks form, the walls of the bladder become thinner, constantly bloody, and necrosis begins to develop.

A similar pattern occurs in other internal organs. For example, when a cat or liver fluke enters the liver, the liver gradually loses a number of functions, and irreversible changes occur in its structure. A protective capsule is formed around the worms, resembling a bubble. Gradually, these bubbles are becoming more and more, but apparently they resemble a bunch of grapes. Each such vial is a carrier of a special liquid impregnated with toxins-products of the exchange of worms. So, on the one hand, liver cells are deformed under the influence of expanding vesicles, and on the other hand, they suffer from intoxication.

The danger of infection with worms today is underestimated. Until now, many people, even caring about their health, are sure that a clean person cannot get sick with helminthic invasions, as this is a disease of dirty hands.

But such an opinion is completely erroneous, because worms  most of the population have it. Those who comply with hygiene standards may also have them, as there are plenty of other ways of infection.

Worm infestation is a very common type of disease, annually about 1.2 billion people become infected with it (according to official data of the World Health Organization). Every third inhabitant of Europe is affected by worms.

Worms are divided in form and structure into two groups: flat and nematode.

Helminthologists have studied about 200 species of worms developing in the human body. In the CIS countries distributed 70 species.

Adult worms usually live in the intestines, but often there are worms that live in the blood, brain, eyes, muscles, kidneys, liver and human heart. To keep the tissues of the body in worms there are special suckers.

Ways of infection with worms

Infected with worms in several ways.

Occasionally, an almost asymptomatic course of helminoses is noted, but the following symptoms usually occur:
1. Neuropsychiatric disorders. They are conditioned helminthic invasionin which toxic substances are constantly emitted into the blood, resulting in irritability, unmotivated outbursts of anger, loss of plodding, fatigue and sleep disturbances. When neuropsychiatric disorders characterized by general weakness.
  2. Dyspeptic syndrome, which includes and pain sensations  in the stomach, and rumbling, bloating, discomfort, a feeling of fullness, increased or decreased appetite, violation of stool from constipation to diarrhea.
  3. The development of anemia. Many worms are hemophages - they feed on the blood of the host, while absorbing vitamin B12 and damaging the intestinal mucosa, which leads to permanent blood loss. The effect of toxins also negatively affects the blood-forming organs, which is important when anemia is formed.
  4. Growth delay and physical underdevelopment, especially in children, may be even with increased appetite.
  5. During routine vaccinations in children, postoperative toxic-allergic reactions are often noted.
  6. Often worms provoke an exacerbation of chronic diseases.
  7. Sometimes there are conditions that are incompatible with the life of the host, for example, with brain finnoze, with liver echinococcosis.
  8. Various toxic and allergic reactions, usually skin.

Harm caused by worms

In the course of their life, the worms produce toxic substances. In humans, these substances are instantly absorbed into the bloodstream and negatively affect the host's nervous system and other vital organs.

How to get rid of worms: drugs

As the representatives of the worms are diverse, so are the therapeutic measures when they are infected. A complex of various procedures for deworming the body will be required.

Chemical drugs  from worms are highly toxic, and their purpose is not always necessary.

Natural biologically active complexes are good helpers in complex infection with worms.

Treatment of worms occurs in several stages.

1. Preparation of the body for the removal of worms with the use of vegetable oils - linseed or pumpkin, as well as drugs Allahol or Enterosgel, which contribute to the binding and elimination of toxic substances of the worms.

2. The use of anthelmintic drugs - narrow-acting or antihelminthic drugs with a broad spectrum of activity. Now in pharmacies can be purchased anthelmintic drugs, which include the following active ingredients:
Albendazole
  Mebendazole
  Pyrantel
  Levamisole
  Piperazine adipate
.
  Most wide range  action has Albendazole  (in a pharmacy you can buy this drug with the trade name - Nemozol). Albendazole  effective at:
  - neurocysticercosis (caused by the larval form of pork tapeworm (Taenia solium),
  - echinococcosis of the liver, lungs, peritoneum, caused by the larval form of canine tapeworm  (Echinococcus granulosus),
  - nematodoses: ascariasis, trichocephalosis, ankilostomidoz, enterobiosis, strongyloidosis, opisthorchiasis, giardiasis, microsporidiosis,
  - mixed helminthiasis.

3. The use of drugs that restore the functions of the organs of the liver, kidneys, gastrointestinal tract, lungs. The use of drugs to stimulate the immune system and the normalization of the metabolism of trace elements and vitamins.

How to get rid of worms: folk remedies

Interest in the anthelmintic action of herbs continues to increase, because sometimes there are contraindications to the treatment of anthelmintic drugs.

Birch, immortelle, valerian, elecampane, oregano, St. John's wort, centaury, mistletoe, walnut, tansy, garlic, eucalyptus, and others possess anthelmintic action.

Prepared at the rate of half a liter of boiling water for two tablespoons of the collection. It is accepted on 1 glass four times a day, half an hour before meals.

Successfully applied in traditional medicine  enemas with garlic. Pour garlic cloves in 100 ml of water and bring to a boil. In the form of heat, this decoction is applied to a daily curative enema for one week. After two weeks, the course must be repeated.

The most effective anthelmintic enema: crushed three cloves of garlic and the same in volume of onions. Pour warm boiled water for 15 minutes, then filter and squeeze through gauze.

The resulting infusion is added to 1.5-2 liters of prepared boiled water, temperature 36-39˚С. There also add one tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice. This solution is injected after a cleansing enema or after a natural bowel movement.

Repeatedly tested and fairly effective harmless remedy for various worms - raw pumpkin seeds. Eat two to three spoons on an empty stomach (chop or chew them well). Two hours later, as a mild laxative, drink two spoons of vegetable oil.

  • Allergic reactions.
  • Dyspeptic symptoms - diarrhea, constipation, bloating.
  • Anemia
  • Loss or weight gain.
  • Chronic fatigue.
  • Weakening of immunity, and, as a result, frequent viral and bacterial infections.
  • Nervousness.

Allergization of the body

After some time of coexistence of man and worms, intoxication occurs - a gradual poisoning of the body with the products of their vital activity.

A rupture of a cyst with an outpouring of the contents in the tissue may provoke allergic reaction  immediate type - anaphylactic shock  or Quincke's edema, often fatal.

Pathology of the digestive tract (gastrointestinal tract)

Favorite habitat of worms - the gastrointestinal tract

The effect of toxins also negatively affects the blood-forming organs.

Weakening of immunity

Such processes subsequently lead to a protracted course. infectious diseases  and carrier formation. It is proved that helminthiasis in children significantly reduces the effectiveness of vaccination, inhibiting the formation of immunity.

The impact of toxins and impaired metabolic processes adversely affect the general condition of the patient - he becomes sluggish, his performance decreases, patients often complain of muscle pain, "weakness", and body aches.

Settling in the body, their vital functions, they cause great harm to many organs and disable them. In consequence, people suffer from many diseases.

Ways of infection with worms

The main route of infection is not following the simplest rules of hygiene.

  • public places. Urban toilets, handrails in transport, shop, money, common eating places of dubious nature, and much more;
  • pets. Non-compliance with the hygiene of pets, cats and dogs, ignoring their treatment, can threaten with worm infection for their owners. Particles of animal stool remain in the coat, which may contain helminth eggs. They get to the person through too close contact with a pet when the cat sleeps with the owner. Pets must be vaccinated and must be periodically examined by a veterinarian.;
  • food. Vegetables, fruits should be washed well with water, preferably several times. Lightly salted fish, its caviar can also become a source of infection. Meat should always be long and well cooked and stewed, not to use dubious products and not fully cooked;
  • water, land. Contaminated water in rivers, lakes, and even running water, the soil that contains helminth eggs. They penetrate the mucous membrane, so you always need to wash your hands with soap and water;
  • insects. Mosquitoes can also transmit helminthiasis to humans.

How to determine if you have worms?

In addition, there are a number of symptoms by which anyone can understand that he is infected with helminths.

Symptoms that cause worms:

  • anal itching;
  • headache;
  • there are violations of the gastrointestinal tract. There are unreasonable constipation, diarrhea, which can alternate;
  • the person is tormented by constant nausea, maybe vomiting;
  • the infected person constantly feels tired, lethargic, he quickly gets tired, drowsy, irritated;
  • disruption of the nervous system, insomnia suffers;
  • felt constant swelling, heaviness in the abdomen, gas formation;
  • dramatic weight loss and pallor of the skin;
  • recurrent abdominal pain, which may be sharp or aching;
  • skin problems begin. Worms can cause an allergic reaction, which is manifested by eczema, urticaria and other rashes;
  • the body's immune system suffers greatly;
  • respiratory organs are damaged, suffocative cough occurs, various inflammations can occur;
  • at night, frequent trips to the toilet, and gnashing of teeth during sleep.

When the first symptoms appear, or when they are combined, you should not postpone the visit to the doctor. Self-medication is not always effective and appropriate.

The danger of helminths on the human body

The harm of worms for a person is very big. This is due to the fact that they affect all organs, multiply rapidly and move with the bloodstream throughout the body.

Often there are fatal cases of helminth infections. But this happens only when everything is very neglected and no treatment is taken. When the worm grows more than 30-35 cm, it carries the danger of blocking any parts of the intestines, any large vessels, which can be fatal to humans.

Consider in more detail the dangerous worms for humans:

Having understood what the worms are harmful, we can say that they cause complete depletion of the body and affect the full activity of the person.

The danger of worms also depends on their type:

Type of helminth

Feature of danger to the body

Harmful worms for people of any age, build, height and weight. They disturb metabolism, appetite, sleep. Cause various diseases urinogenital, digestive, respiratory, nervous, cardiovascular, immune, musculoskeletal system.

Prevention and precautions

  • monitor the overall body hygiene carefully;
  • always wash hands with soap after going to the toilet, walking, going to the store, contact with animals, before eating;
  • do not eat raw fish and meat;
  • it is good to roast, stew and bake meat, fish. Do not eat products of questionable freshness;
  • exclude bathing in polluted water bodies that you know little or where cattle drink water;
  • wash vegetables, fruits, berries before consumption;
  • you can drink prophylactic drugs, or use folk methods  to prevent the appearance of worms;
  • keep pets clean and healthy.

Especially carefully you need to monitor the hygiene of the hands of young children. They are at high risk, as they often play for a long time in playgrounds, in sandboxes and love animals.

If one of the family members is infected, he should be provided with a separate towel, dishes, linens. All other residents of the house to be examined, exclude the source of infection and take preventive measures.

Be attentive to your health, treat with great responsibility to the treatment of helminthiasis, and this will allow you to avoid very harmful consequences.

It leads to the development of many diseases, the number of inferior only to infectious respiratory diseases.

Games with sick pets, the use of food contaminated with worms, which did not undergo sufficient heat treatment, can contribute to the infection with worms.

Worms have extraordinary fecundity, vitality and adaptability, which gives them the opportunity to bypass the protective reactions of the body and exist in the body for decades. First of all they hit immune system, which should counteract the introduction of alien creatures and inclusions into the body.

Worms not only eat the food that a person intends for himself, but their body cells are also present in their diet, which primarily refers to white blood cells. As a result, immunity deteriorates dramatically.

Worms absorb the products they need, in particular, vitamins and other substances that a person needs, the entire surface of his body, that is, the selection of products is quite intensive, and the body, as a result, loses a significant amount of trace elements that are vital for it, for example, manganese, silicon, iodine and a variety of others.

Ascarid larvae in the state, moving throughout the body, perforate internal organs  and fabrics. Moving even in the capillaries, they tear them apart, and penetrating into the biliary tract and liver, they provoke squeezing of the ducts, and in some cases and. Having penetrated into the pancreas, the larvae can cause severe pancreatitis.
