Small artificial aquarium ecosystem. How does a closed aquarium ecosystem work? Individual project "aquarium - closed system" Creation of an ecosystem in a terrarium

Aquamir is a miniature completely sealed aquarium that lives on the same principles as the Earth's biosphere, that is, nothing leaves or enters the system from the outside except for sunlight. Shrimps live in such a mini aquarium. They swim peacefully among corals and shells, nibble microalgae, and sometimes rush one after another or drag grains of sand. If disturbed, the shrimp will temporarily lose their red color and take on the color of the environment. When calmed down, they turn red again. In "Aquamir", shrimps do not have their natural enemies, and their life can last for a very long time, about 10 years.

You don't need to feed aquatic organisms or change their water. It does not receive air, water or food. When exposed to light, microalgae produce oxygen through photosynthesis and food for shrimp, which in turn produce carbon dioxide and fertilizer for plants.

The creation of miniature biosystems was the result of long and complex scientific experiments carried out in the USSR and the USA as part of space and environmental projects for several decades. .

Do shrimp breed in aquamir?

Our shrimps live long, but rarely breed. We spent a lot of time to get them to reproduce for the production of Aquamirs, creating special conditions. There are no such conditions in Aquamir.

But nevertheless, thanks to the attention and care of the owners of Aquamirs, if this happens in your "Aquamir", please be sure to inform us. Send photos of shrimp with caviar and newborn fry. We are trying to document these cases.

How does shrimp feel in a closed ball?

The "Aquamir" biosystem is a balanced system designed for many years of life, it contains enough substances to maintain a comfortable life for shrimp. Let's just remind about light and room temperature.

The fact that they were in Aquamir testifies that excellent conditions can be created for them in a closed system.

Our shrimp are ideal for keeping in ordinary mini aquariums, so called nano aquariums.

Why can't you put more shrimps in "AQUAMIR"?

The main thing that we are trying to achieve when creating "AQUAMIRS" is to provide comfortable, healthy conditions for a long life of shrimps in a closed biosystem. Naturally, 100% waste recycling is impossible, the system must have a safety margin. Therefore, the shrimp should not be more than the estimated amount. Be careful when buying biosystems where the number of shrimps, even small ones, is more than 2 individuals per 1 liter.

Is it difficult to comply with the conditions of detention of "AQUAMIR"?

The main thing is light and room temperature. The conditions of an ordinary office or apartment are quite suitable for keeping "AQUAMIR". In order not to depend on the weather, we recommend keeping the aquamir under the table lamps, away from windows.

Algae on the walls of "AQUAMIR"

In "AQUAMIR" there is a culture of special algae. Over time, there may be more of them on the walls of the "AQUAMIR". It `s naturally. The system is healthy if the algae are green. If the algae is brown, you need to add light. Algae from the walls can be removed with sand or magnets, which we equip "AQUAMIR". The inner magnet is made of a special anti-corrosion alloy.

Buying "Aquamir", you help to protect animals

For our Aquamirs we use shrimp grown in our laboratories. The breeding of our shrimps in artificial conditions is the result of many years of work. By purchasing Aquamira, you support efforts to prevent the extinction of this species.

An aquarium is a small ecosystem that has all the traits of an ecosystem. Despite the fact that it is artificial, that is, created with the help of a person, it is easy to trace the basic biological and ecological laws by its example. The aquarium as an ecosystem is a simple and straightforward model. It is often used for explanations in schools and colleges.

Often in biology lessons, you can hear the question: why can an aquarium be called a model of an ecosystem? Name or list the main ecological groups of animals and plants? Let's figure out what actually happens behind the glass, and how living organisms manage to self-organize into an ecosystem.

An ecosystem, by definition, is a unity of habitat and living organisms. Within the ecosystem, each organism performs its biological role, maintaining the general equilibrium of the system and participating in the cycle of substances.

Ecological groups of organisms

There are three main groups of organisms:

  • Producers - manufacturers.
  • Consumables are consumers.
  • Reducers are destroyers.

Producers are mainly plant organisms. This can also include some types of cyanobacteria. Producers create organic matter. How do they do it? Through photosynthesis. In plants, ooze of minerals, organic matter is formed, which the plant uses for growth and development. Therefore, the ecosystem in the aquarium does not remain without food. You can see that even with a sufficient amount of food, fish still eat algae - because this is their natural behavior.

The second group is consumers. This includes virtually all animals that eat plants or other animals. Those who eat plant foods are called first order consumers. They are eaten by second-order consumers, and so on. Usually, aquarists do not keep second-order consumers with herbivores - few people want fish to eat each other.

Destroyers are mostly fungi and bacteria. In addition to them, snails and catfish, which clean the walls, can be attributed to the destroyers in the aquarium. Destroyers are needed to process waste and dead organic matter. If they did not exist, the water would quickly become polluted.

Thus, within an aquarium, an artificial ecosystem is organized according to basic ecological rules. The closed ecosystem of the aquarium is imperfect, therefore it requires support from a person.

Features of the aquarium

The size and shape differ depending on its purpose. In houses, rectangular or bowl-shaped vessels are most often installed - in them fish are better visible.

Several types are distinguished by purpose:

  • For growing fry. After they are transplanted into aquariums for adult fish.
  • Decorative - designed for installation in public places and residential areas. They can be of very different shapes and sizes.
  • Quarantine - for keeping sick fish until they recover. Experienced breeders also put freshly purchased fish in them to make sure they are not sick.
  • Spawning - fish spawn in them. The fry are then transplanted into a special aquarium.

There are other varieties, such as breeding and jig aquariums.

As for the form, the choice depends on the purpose. A round vessel is great for decoration - but its volume is small, and the number of species available for content is limited. You can keep swordtails, molynesias, guppies in it. Other species will survive, but most likely will not breed in confined spaces. In addition, it is difficult to install additional equipment in a round bowl. Another problem is light distortion, which negatively affects the behavior and health of fish.

The most popular is rectangular. The volume depends on the number and types of fish. It is best to consult with an experienced aquarist before purchasing.

Impact on a person

The aquarium, as a small artificial ecosystem, is very easy to maintain, which is why aquariums, called anti-stress ones, are often set up in long waiting areas. The closed ecosystem behind glass is a great way to calm down and relax.

Psychologists recommend setting up aquariums for anyone prone to anxiety. Calm contemplation allows you to quickly restore performance, relieves emotional stress.

There are also more obvious physiological effects - water evaporating humidifies the air, which means it makes it easier to fall asleep. In children, caring for aquarium fish awakens a sense of responsibility, and watching them aids creativity.

The new is the well-forgotten old. It's simple. Thanks to the knowledge of the Aztecs, the process of a closed ecosystem was revived, who applied it several thousand years ago. The fish's natural biological secretions serve as natural fertilizers for the plants on top of the aquarium. In turn, the plants purify the water for the fish. As a result, we get a self-cleaning aquarium, environmentally friendly products, as well as pure oxygen released by greenery.

You grow your own crops and at the same time observe the life of the fish. The system regulates itself. The Aqua farm kit includes everything you need to create a full-fledged eco-farm. Just add fish! This original device will decorate any room, will perfectly fit into the interior of the room, office, childcare. No one has yet remained indifferent at the sight of an aquarium with lush greenery above.

Features:

  • The fish feeds the plants. Plants cleanse the aquarium
  • Grow basil, lettuce, wheatgrass, etc.
  • Great for home, kindergarten and schools
  • The set has everything you need! Just add fish
  • The fish will perfectly take root in the Aqua farm
  • new silent underwater pump

APPLICATION:

1. Preparing water for fish

Fill the tank up to half with room temperature water, tap water is fine, but it is advisable to stand for 12 hours. Add 1 sachet of Fish Prep ™ and ½ cap of D-Klor ™ for bathing water for your fish! (D-Klor does not need to be used if you are using drinking water for your fish)

To even out the temperature of your fish and the water around it, lower the bag or container in which you brought the fish (along with the fish) into the water for 15 minutes.

Then release the fish into the water and let it swim for 10 minutes. Then place the fish back in the container, adding water from the aquarium to it. Empty the tank completely.

2. We release the fish

Fish, like you, need clean water

Make sure the pump power setting is at minimum. Connect the black rubber tube to the pump. Wet the suction cups and attach the pump to the back of the tank. The pump should be located as close to the bottom of the tank as possible. During installation, make sure that the plug of the wire is not wet and is always outside the tank. The pump must not be plugged in during installation.

Thoroughly rinse the substrate and gravel with hot water (very important). You can use plant pots as colander. Pour washed gravel onto the bottom of the tank.

Place the Aqua Farm in the designated place and fill it with tap water at room temperature until matte.

Add ½ cap of D-Klor ™ and start the fish (D-Klor does not need to be used if you are using drinking water for your fish).

Cockerels are tropical fish and are comfortable in warm water. It is also possible to add a small water heater (not included in the Aqua Farm kit).

3. Assembling the plant cassette

Create the perfect seed environment

Rinse the plant tray with water. Pull the wire and black rubber tube through the rectangular hole in the pan and place the pan on top of the tank. Route the wire up to the small hole in the back of the tank and lead it out. Insert the end of the rubber tube into a small round hole (so that the water can flow into the plant tray). Plug the pump into a power outlet.

Note: To prolong the life of the pump, turn it off once or twice a week overnight.

Fill each pot evenly with rinsed substrate (light and porous) and place the pots on a cassette. Pour the Zym Bac evenly over the pot medium using the entire bottle.

4. Planting seeds

Start growing your crop

To sow the Aqua Farm, you just need to sprinkle the seeds on the potted substrate. Light-loving plants such as basil should be placed near a window that receives direct sunlight (most often a south-facing window).

Hooray! Everything is ready!

Hints

To get a quick result, start growing wheatgrass first

Place decorations in the tank to keep the fish cozy

Freshwater snails (maximum size 4 cm) are effective algae eaters and are sold at most pet stores

If the tank is positioned in such a way that direct sunlight is falling on the water, consider purchasing a protective panel

The first days the water in the tank may be cloudy - this is a cyclical process, within a week the water will be cleared.

Aqua farm care

~ 1 minute per day

Feed your fish 6-8 pellets a day.

To avoid changing a large volume of water, regularly top up drinking water in the tank as soon as the level drops 5 cm below the matte line. Use ½ cap of D-Klor ™ for every 3 liters of tap water added

After the Aqua Farm has been running for a week, add a whole bag of Tidy Tank ™ to the water. Then, to keep the tank clean, add a sludge remover that keeps the tank clean once a month - available at any pet store

As the plant roots grow, rotate each pot so that the roots wrap tightly around it (this improves water flow)

What if I run out of D-Klor, Fish Prep, Zym Bac, Tidy Tank, fish food or all at once? Now the kit includes a double portion of all products! But just in case ... Everything you need can be purchased at a pet store near you, here are the guidelines for what to ask the seller:

D-Klor - ask in store - preparation for quick preparation of tap water in an aquarium

Fish Prep - ask in store - a blend of natural oils to keep your fish healthy

Zym Bac - ask at the store - a solution containing beneficial bacteria for filtration in the aquarium

Tidy Tank - ask the store - a sludge remover that keeps the aquarium clean Fish food - ask the store - basic fish food

EQUIPMENT:

For aquarium:

1 tank (11 liters capacity)

1 plant tray (includes lid)

1 pump (1.8W, 220-240V)

1 flexible tube (makes the Aqua farm super quiet)

Instructions in Russian

In 1997, together with my colleague Dmitry Chashechnikov, we developed and patented the technology for the production of so-called sealed or sealed aquariums - AquaMir. These are self-contained aquariums, self-sufficient. No need to feed animals, change water. It looks like our land, because the land is also a large aquarium, where aliens do not feed animals and do not change the water in the oceans. The earth cleanses, feeds and nourishes itself. The great Russian scientist Vernadsky, because of this property, called the earth the Biosphere.

Our planet is a closed system in which living organisms are located, where practically nothing enters the system from the outside and leaves it, except for sunlight.

AquaMir is a miniature ecosystem that exists on the same principles as the Earth's biosphere. It is home to shrimp, snails and microalgae. You don't need to feed aquatic organisms or change their water. It does not receive air, water, or food from outside. Under the influence of light, microalgae photosynthesize food for shrimp and snails, which in turn produce carbon dioxide and fertilizer for plants.

Life span of AquaMir is limited by the life span of shrimp. Because Since shrimp have no natural enemies in the aquarium, their life can last for quite a long time, up to about 10 years.

Here is a letter we recently received from a Muscovite Olga.

AquaMir has been living with Olya for 15 years. I think this is a record
